1958 Custom Restored Gilera Road Racing Motorcycle

From Off The Wall Antiques:
The Gilera motorcycle company , founded in Italy in 1909, produced some of the finest racing motorcycles in the country’s history. In 1935, the company acquired the rights for the Rondine four cylinder engine, forming the basis for its’ racing machines. Gilera dominated the Grand Prix motor races, winning six years out of the eight they competed. In 1969, the company was absorbed by Piaggio, which currently produces a scooter under the name of Gilera.

Ours is a fully restored 1958 version, with a 125 cc four stroke engine. The custom “dustbin” fairing and body are finished in eight coats of clear lacquer over the paint. The bronze devil ornament was cast by Hippodrome Studios of Utah. The bike is fully functional, but not licensed and equipped for street use. Vintage poster shown is not included.
