About the 1955 Ghia Streamline X “Gilda”
It is a ‘plane? Is it a car? Combining elements of both, it’s one of the 20th century’s most influential automotive design statements. Named after a celebrated film noir featuring Rita Hayworth- nicknamed La Vedette Atomique- and the inspiration for a generation of streamlined, wildly finned motor cars, Gilda epitomises the Jet Age and is a tribute to Italian design, American confidence and pure Hollywood glamour.
