As soon as I saw this project by photographer Sam Christmas, I immediately got on the mega-phone to Sam to find out the back story behind his photos of these well-known UK moto-guys in their own natural habitats.

Hey Wes,
With our shitty UK weather we’re forced to stay inside for more than half the year, where bikes can be worked on while dreaming of the summer. With space at such a premium in the UK, it leads to motorcycles being kept in some really interesting and unusual spaces.
So it was a project that just kind of evolved naturally over a year and a half, starting with a friend of mine James Jordan – his bedroom basically contained a mattress, some drawers and his Triumph Bonnie chopper, with all his tools on the floor, and I knew I had to get a picture of it.
After that I photographed Ornamental Conifer in his studio cos I thought his space was very unique and really reflected his personality and interests and then he suggested I photograph someone else, and it just snowballed from there.
Thanks a lot – Sam

BTW I had an exhibition of this project in London, it was a pretty awesome turnout considering the literally freezing temperatures, see a little review of the night here.
